A High Style and Budget Friendly Fall Tablescape
I love fall. The temperatures getting cooler and the air crisp, the beauty of the fall leaves changing colour, and of course the holidays spent with family and friends. No matter how you plan to celebrate Thanksgiving this year, creating a simple and beautiful tablescape will bring your family together in style. Follow this guide to inject the beauty of fall into your home this season.
This year I was inspired by natural elements for this Thanksgiving tablescape and decided to go with a neutral look that is classic and timeless and will blend in perfectly with the homes décor. Leaning toward a neutral palette can be easier to do and more unexpected than by styling with traditional rust and gold.
My goal was to create a beautiful, shimmery, casual and elegant look all at the same time. Here I break down all the elements to recreate this look:
Table runner, Placemats and Napkins
A perfect start (and often underused addition) to creating a charming table is the use of a table runner. This one is a neutral colour woven with metallic threads to give it a subtle sheen. For a touch of whimsy, there is an embroidered beaded pumpkin on each end. The artisan placemats have muted dark and light colours and were a natural way to introduce copper and teal accent colours into this table. Each of these items were inexpensive buys at Homesense so if spills happen it won’t matter! The earthy linen napkins are held together with simple bronze napkin rings from Pier 1 Imports.
Dinnerware, Flatware and Glassware
An unexpected addition to this table is the mottled glazed stoneware, rose gold flatware and teal stemless tumblers. The dinnerware adds an element of warmth and depth to what could be an otherwise drab place setting. The teal green shade is the perfect accent for the dark table and neutral linens. Teal stemless tumblers are a fun way to carry out the theme and are an excellent choice for wine and non-alcoholic drinks. Visit Pier 1 Imports for both items recently added to their fall collection. Rose gold flatware from Bouclair introduces the second accent colour to this setting and gives it a sophisticated look and feel.
Serveware
The wooden low-profile bowl and enamel and wooden salad bowl from Crate and Barrel give a cozy and comfortable aesthetic. These serving pieces are perfect for serving up leafy greens and crusty bread. The serving spoons are bamboo shaped and complement the cute turkey salt and pepper shakers.
Centrepiece and Décor
The simple centerpiece is a low-profile ceramic ivory pumpkin ideal for keeping in with the theme of the season, but still allowing for guests to see one another! Glass candlesticks in a subtle shade make a bold statement. Combining glass candlesticks with mercury glass votives allow you to layer your lighting and create warmth. Copper and ivory acorns rest casually against the pumpkin and are small enough not to take up valuable real estate on the table. In addition to creating a tablescape for your dining table, it’s a good idea to extend your theme to nearby furniture. In this case, the cabinet is topped with a combination of rustic, glass, and ceramic décor from Homesense and Crate and Barrel.
The teal and copper accents matched with earthy tones light up this neutral Thanksgiving table. An elegant table is simple to put together and inexpensive to create on your own. From glitzy glam to rustic chic, I hope you create a tablescape that fits your personal taste and style.
Stylist Pro Tip: Consider incorporating edible décor. Afterall, who doesn’t love décor that you can consume? The earthy bosc pears and sprig of sage add a down home sweetness to the table setting. Dessert is displayed on a pretty cake stand adding interest to the nearby cabinet.
